Dr. Pilar Mayer-Koukol

Dr. Pilar Mayer-Koukol is a Partner and Attorney-at-Law specializing in the defense and victim representation in complex white-collar crime matters. In addition, she has extensive experience in compliance matters, advises on all issues related to whistleblowing systems and supports companies with internal investigations.

Dr. Mayer-Koukol regularly holds professional lectures and speaks at training sessions and workshops. She also frequently publishes articles in legal journals, addressing current criminal law issues and developments. Furthermore, she serves as an ombudsperson and trusted attorney for companies.

She studied law at the University of Vienna (Mag.iur. 2010 and Dr.iur. 2014), ranking among the top of her class. During her studies, she worked as a research assistant at the Institute for European, International, and Comparative Law. After graduation, she continued her academic career as a university assistant under Professor Dr. Helmut Fuchs at the Institute for Criminal Law and Criminology, focusing intensely on questions of white-collar crime and corporate criminal law. Her dissertation on “Compliance & Criminal Law” was published in 2016. Additionally, she taught and lectured on criminal law and criminal procedure law.

Throughout and after her studies, she gained valuable professional experience working at internationally active law firms. In 2017, she passed the Austrian Bar Exam in Vienna with distinction and subsequently joined PAULITSCH LAW. She was admitted to the bar in 2018 and became a partner in 2020.

Dr. Mayer-Koukol gained international experience, inter alia at the Austrian Foreign Trade Office in Barcelona in 2010 and at the Basel Institute on Governance under anti-corruption expert Professor Mark Pieth in 2012.
